I paid tuition in full. Why should I give back?

Tuition does not cover the full cost of an Arkasnas education; it covers only about 60 percent of the full cost. Had it not been for private support, your Arkansas experience would have been very different. In addition, Chancellor Gearhart has remained firm that even in the face of severe state budget cuts the university strives to keep raises in tution costs to an absolute minimum. So even for those of us who pay tuition in full or partially, the university significantly subsidizes our education with the generous support of our donors. These gifts fund the RSOs in which we participate, the departments and colleges that educate us, the buildings that house us, the scholarships that allow our classmates and ourselves to be here, and the daily operations of the university that enable us to earn our degrees.

Remember, gifts like yours help make it possble for future stuents to share in the same experiences you had...just as previous classes made gifts that impacted you. Your generosity represents a committment to and an investment in the University of Arkansas. We can't do it without you.

With some alumni giving thousands and even millions of dollars, how can my $20.12 gift make a difference?

Last year, over 8,000 individuals donated $1.3 million dollars to the University of Arkansas Annual Fund. This level of support would not be possible without each and every gift. Gifts that seem small to you combine each day to make a big difference on campus.

The size of the gift isn't what matters the most - it's your participation. Prospective faculty, students and the media view participation as a vote of confidence in our institution. For this reason, high participation helps attract the best faculty and students to the university. Your gift, no matter the size, shows gratitude for the education you received and shows support for the students and faculty who will follow.

What does my contribution to the Class Gift support?

You choose! Your gift supports areas of greatest need at the university, including scholarships, student affairs, facility improvements, and department funding. When you make a contribution to the Class Gift, you're helping to enrich and enhance the experience of current and future students. Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund are those given without any limitations on their use, thereby allowing the university to place resources where thy are immediately needed. Unrestricted gifts provide vital funds that impact every area of the Universiy of Arkansas, especially in times of increased financial pressures.
